Unidentified natural.
Picked this hone up on a whim.
It has layers that are somewhat defined as dark lines that remind me of a
topographic map showing elevation/declination etc.has sparkles in it but not overly densely. wet it is gray/tan/brown in layering.dry it is a paler version of that.slurry is tan.I suspect it is a sandstone .

Thanked: 246I'm pretty sure that's not a Hindo. There are several varieties/colors but I've never heard of a darker brown one. Possible stones I can think of would be an oddly patterned Dalmore Blue or a Levant. Does the stone have any glittery/sparkly particles on/in the surface?

Glittery, yes it does.more or less evenly spread out around the stone.

Thanked: 246I'd say you have a Dalmore Blue there. Looked on my phone on the first message, now that I've seen it on a bigger screen I'm pretty sure. I have one fairly similar.

What are the specs on that? Uses? Grit equivalent? Im guessing it isn't a finisher

I would have to test it.it seems similar to a soft ark or maybe a touch finer. I have yet to give it a real run under a blade.

Thanked: 246Here are a couple shots of mine - these aren't great, just taken with my phone. This is a mid grit stone by most accounts, you'll most likely want to use a finer stone afterward. Some have reported fair shave from the stone, but I don't think I would probably get that result looking at the scratch pattern.
