Chromium oxide is not necessary after a good finisher like an Escher or decent coticule. Linen and leather stropping should be all you need. If you can't get a shaving edge with just regular stropping off your finisher you should adjust your technique. (Less pressure, more laps etc.)

If you maxed out your edge on a 12k nani/Escher/coti you will not even think about using any stropping compound as your edges will shave amazingly.
