Wow, that's amazing, doorsch!! What fantastic luck. Bravo.

I don't suppose that I'll be that fortunate, but even if there's only one Droescher or similar vintage water hone in this lot, I'll be more than happy.

Default Old barber's drawer full o' hones!!

The old barber's estate hone lot came yesterday and I wanted to post pics of the haul:

Sadly, the translucent Arkie didn't survive the trip north from sunny Florida. Supposed it is still usable for pocket knives and such.

From left to right in the pic below: unknown glass hone in a wooden base, Kelley's 20th Century Dry hone, Carborundum 106, Pike combination (black/red), Pike Swaty, Swaty Wahring bei Wien.

And three unknown hones, two of which appear to be Carborundum type and the third is a much finer grit.

Think I made out fine overall but didn't win the lottery!

You could easily resell one or 2 of those and cover your whole investment. Other than shipping perhaps. That must have cost a buck or two go ship. Not exactly a light package.

Shipping was not that bad--about $12. It's just that the box was not packed by someone who knew anything about hones. The box for the Arkie was not taped and as a result caused the damage in transit. Anyway. I'm pleased with the lot and will have fun with the loupe figuring out which hones are finest.

If they knew anything about hones, you would have paid more. Lol. That shipping was cheaper than I expected by a lot.

Good point! It was regular USPS first class mail.

In one of the "if it fits, it ships" boxes, I'm guessing.
