Hi,
I try to hone my kamisori with this stone as base stone together with my JNAT nagura (don't know wich one is it I get this one with my Shoubudani from JNS), and La Grise slurry stone from my Coticule.
I find that Montenegro stone is very good as base stone. After progresion with JNAT nagura I get cloudy surface and honing on Montenegro stone with clear water after that leave some light scratches on that cloudy (but smooth) surface.
After that I try to rise slurry with Coticule slurry stone. After Coticule I get more clearly finish (If I compare with JNAT) but with some scratches on surface. After that I did some X-strokes on Montenegro stone with clear water and after that on runing water to finish honing. Here I didn't notice any new scratches from Montenegro stone so I think that grit of Montenegro stone is similar with Coticule.
I didn't have time to document this with USB microscope so I use only my eyes.
P.S. I like to use my old kamisori with big hone wear to test stones because I have nice and big surface to look. When I find time I will regrind this kamisori to look as new Kamisori is made from old bearing (52000 steel).Last edited by davorvfr; 10-16-2015 at 06:52 AM.

Hi to all,
I had one razor on sharpening so I took some micro pictures...
Here is picture of edge honed with Shoubudani Type100 with heavy nagura slurry.
Here is 30 X strokes on Shoubudani with diluted slurry and finaly clear water
Did I have to make more X strokes on water to get better polished edge on Shoubudani?
After that I took Montenegro stone and did some (30) X-strokes
I did 30 more
And this is after 30-50 circles on clean strop
I get HHT3-4 on this blade.
Also would like to to share this picture of Montenegro stone on morning sunshine.

Very nice So it does seem to burnish the edge, which is about what I find as well.
Your question about the Shobu... maybe on clear water with 30-40 more strokes, you would get a more polished edge. I haven't used that stone, so obviously just guessing.. but my asagi would leave the same marks as yours on slurry and then with more polishing on water, it would improve to near mirror shine. My stone is around level 7+ (so a bit on the soft side).
Vasili, your stone comes from the same "block" as Davor's. Mikael's is different... more cutting power in that one I suspect. As the time passes, so we learn.
