A BBW would be easily identified by it's characteristic pattern so I doubt it is one. I would think a welsh slate because of the stone and the box looks English made. The purple French stone can look similar but they often come in different sizes and different boxes.

The blade I chose was a blade that I would have probably touched up on a SG 20K before stropping. So it was close to being shave ready and in fact might have been with some stropping. I don't think this is the protocol for estimating a grit size but this is what I did. So the hone felt very close to a barber hone in feedback. In other words, practically none.
The razor after 40 trips on this hone with water, was stropped and put to work. The shave: fine. Would I do that again? Possibly, just to keep up the inquiry.
    Anyway, here are the pics.

The last pic is of the chipping which I hope might lead to and identification of this hone.
To me it looks like a La Loraine hone.
Is it over there or over yonder?

I would join Piets statement, it resamples most a purple UK Slate they often show these lines which you can see there, they look somehow flashy...

I can also agree on the simularity in the look compared to the fine french stones, this one came from UK and the first weeks i also thought its a fine french, but obviously its a purple UK Slate, it shows the same flashy lines on the surface...

Interesting was the chamfering which looked like the Lune stones...
