    Default Mystery hone incoming

The seller posted some out of focus pics. They were clear enough to see some saw marks. The odd thing is he claims the stone is 'brown.' So I don't know if his pics are accurate or his description is.
He also claims the stone is very fine at at 12K. This last claim might be my get out of jail free card.
Here is a pic. I would welcome input. Thanks

Looks like it could be a slate stone. Hard to tell from where though. Watch it have an escher label on the other side

I see a tint of red that gets stronger going to the right side, it is lighter than the yellow lake I have.
    Is it an Ebay stone?

Regrettably the other side does not have a label...it is just kind of a beat up version of the 'show' side. I don't own a natural hone and I tried to find a visual match in several places but gave up. Pulled the trigger. Now the waiting, the slurry, the blade on hone...

Hmm, well, when the stone comes look for little black speckles in it, will be helpful for identifying it, did you do what I did and Hope for a thuringian? Yep, I have to admit it, turns out a Gent here sold it to the Ebay re-seller who leaves the seed of ? in his Almost,,,,,,,, deceptive ads. PM me if you want to discuss.

I did not use magical thinking regarding this hone. In other words, I didn't hope it was any hone I knew about, be it Thuringian, French hone, Belgian hone. I just thought it looked like something worth gambling on. I can check the hone for rough grit size, as I have a nice quiver of synthetics. If the seller has tried to mislead me with the 12K claim and he is off by half. We will negotiate.
I didn't understand your statement about the Ebay reseller and the member being in collusion with him. You can elaborate if you care to.

    Na...It's an old oil-soaked India. That's it!
