I don’t bother to tighten the holder on the stone, leave aboggut a ¼ in from the stone end and just switch out the stones, they don’t move. I often stack stones, one in the holder, a 3X8 in piece of drawer liner and another stone on top, works great for smaller naturals or a diamond plate for corrective work.

I have a bunch of 3X8 pieces of rubber Drawer liner cut and use them for storing my stones to protect them from banging each other. Cut them with a paper cutter.

Before we moved, I used a pine board over the sink with a piece of rubber drawer liner as a sink bridge, worked great, if your sink is the right height.
