No to the barber hone because he already has an 8k hone. A barber hone is a great option for the least amount of money, but it takes an investment of time to learn how to use it as a sole maintenance hone. With few exceptions, it is not of use a "finishing stone."

I started out with 1-3-8 Naniwa SS and used the Swaty for a finisher and got good shaves. I then added the 12K naniwa and left off the Swaty and got better shaves. A friend showed me the difference between the 12K naniwa and the Suehiro 20K and I had to have one. Point is how far do you wish to go. each hone i used got me a better shave but don't know where i'm going from here. Welcome to the chase.

Thank you guys, just been wanting some opinions. It looks like I'll be getting a 12k Naniwa soon. Now if I can just get off E-Bay! RAD is tough to beat.

If you enter Ebay and see the jnats that mr Takeshi sells aka Metalmaster He has amazing offers of koppas and finishing stones from Nakyama at low prises from 60 to 100 bucks If you ask someone more advanced in those stones and choose a stone harder than the levell 4 you will have exelent finisher at exelent prise
He is respected dealer and daily sells a lot of cheap Jnats with exelent quality
if you dont insist on a full size stone or a perfect rectangular stone and you folow his auctions , im shure you will have a bargain deal right away
