Hasn't arrived yet, but hoping it is a thuringian. From what I learned here, good chance it is. No slurry stone though.
The price was worth the gamble.

Boker barber's delight. Missed a well worn esher recently, thought I would never see another down here and then a week later this popped up. Have long admired them and never thought I would get one, so I guess it is my "holy grail" stone. For now anyway...

Your pic of the Escher on the bottom, I have one that looks exactly the same, only have the bottom half of the box - it's blue, same as yours, could the one in my pic be a Barber's Delight? Unless you have the actual box cover, how can you tell?

The other stone in my pic is very yellow, as you can see....

Many hones shipped by Escher were boxed in the color of the stone. My bottom box is a light green. Check the ends of the hone for a color tag.
All are good hones and even the darkest, which I prefer, do a great job.

Not sure, actually i probably described mine wrong. The blue one is surely an export version from Escher, actually it has not written Barbers Delight on it, need to correct this...

But its what appears in germany as Type "Rasierstube" which is translated as a "Barber Shop" Version of the stones....

One way is by the measurements of the stone. I've had three or four Barber's Delight Eschers come, and go. All of the BD I've ever seen are the same size, IIRC that is 2"x6" for the main stone, + the slurry stone, as opposed to different sizes for other Eschers. The most common being the 7x1&5/8". The shorter boxed stones are many times 5x2&1/2 +slurry. Here is an old thread with some pix of various http://straightrazorpalace.com/hones...tml#post611426

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
