Hi,
Use the search space above to search for "Kamisori" and then "Lapping film." A lot of posts on both. Just use your "Enter" key not the magnifying glass. Keeps the search to this forum.

I gave the film an honest try a while back. They didn't work that well for me or my Kami. My Kami is a stone whore.
Give em a shot, but if they don't work for you, don't spend too much time trying is my advice.David

My Nani's are my standbys. But the Kami loves the Arkansas stones I have. If you are starting out, I hesitate to recommend the Arks because they take a little finessing, but then, it's hard to over hone with the Arks so I'm torn.
That said, everyone should have a set of Nani's in their collection if you ask me!
Good luck! Kami's are bad ... expletiveDavid

Thanked: 458I sharpen japanese chisels on a washita, which doesn't cut the white steel that quickly, so it ends up leaving a polish on the hard steel. I can imagine (since the kamisoris are similar, and probably similar hardness) that the arks will do good work on the steel because they polish more than cut.
If you could sit with a beginner to show them how to use them (including a slurried soft for bevel work), they can be used as fast as anything else, but that requires judgement with pressure. And beginners might not have that quite yet - if they smash a razor down trying to get speed instead of just applying moderate pressure, they'll end up wonking the bevel geometry.
I love them, though - slurried soft, washita and then either black or trans to prepare little used or bevel-correction-needed razors for me.

Thanked: 3795You asked the questions and said you were going to do some reading, and yet went ahead and placed an order without knowing the purpose of the sheets you ordered. I suggest that you slow down, do more reading, and try to find a mentor near you.

Films will work, some like them. Just not my cup of tea. A selection from 15,12,9,5,3,1 and .5 micron should work.
