Thread: eBay hones have you tired these

Ok, kidding aside maybe he was trying to display the level of polish his stones put on the blade? But I see a lot of stria left behind, and doing so on a blade that doesn't have a set bevel was probably not a good move. It also looks like they didn't hone it enough, because even Keith Johnson's stone showed less left over stria than that - he just had a hard inclusion sticking up that was eating up his edge.

Edit - little bit of digging showed his description of what it is:

Nothing more than stropping on the right cloth, at aout 60 laps per 45 seconds.

Sounds counter productive to me. Without perfect technique that's going to put a hurting on a razor's edge. Apparently that same blade had some misaligned chips, but stropping at a regular pace will straighten those out as well.
