    Default eBay hones have you tired these

    I was wondering if anyone has tried this guys hones he selling on eBay? They seem decently priced but need work normally. Just wondering if you or anyone has tried them?

    That Is the famous/infamous PHIG. People's Hone of Indeterminate Grit. I got mine off ebay for something like 30 bucks shipped. And rougher than the one in your picture. If you get one, get It from the site gssixgun mentioned and save yourself a few hour's lapping time. They're hard as hell, and mine came with a natrual face on one side, wet saw kerf marks on the other.

    Click HERE for the website. Though I highly recommend the larger one, the smaller one is at the bottom of the page. Because the hone is so slow, the larger hone gets the job done less slowly. (I couldn't really in good conscience call it faster, though it is.)

    The small one is still better than the 1/4 PHIG I've seen in some places.

    So I read about it! Seems to be back and forth on reviews. I wonder if this stone is similar to the ILR stone?

    Not even close. The ILR is a great stone and there are video's posted on Youtube that states it has an edge closer to the 20k range even though it is marketed and sold at the 12-15k range.
