Ok, kidding aside maybe he was trying to display the level of polish his stones put on the blade? But I see a lot of stria left behind, and doing so on a blade that doesn't have a set bevel was probably not a good move. It also looks like they didn't hone it enough, because even Keith Johnson's stone showed less left over stria than that - he just had a hard inclusion sticking up that was eating up his edge.

Edit - little bit of digging showed his description of what it is:

Nothing more than stropping on the right cloth, at aout 60 laps per 45 seconds.
Sounds counter productive to me. Without perfect technique that's going to put a hurting on a razor's edge. Apparently that same blade had some misaligned chips, but stropping at a regular pace will straighten those out as well.

What is it that he thought he was achieving here? I cannot find any explanation for his Fire Edge and would like a chance to find out what he is doing with this.
may be it is slaying the whiskers with fire unknown to us regular honers?

I used to get a Fire edge, but off my Old Braun Electric shaver, the thing was worn out but could start a fire from the red hot whirring blades, Friction fire..... Burn them whiskers right off.

I like it when it's the moderators who are the ones to stir the pot.

I fully understand True Honing, but I'm still trying to find out exactly what leads to the Fire Edge. Is there any chance it can be as good?

I sat through that mess a few years ago and chuckled throughout.

Some folks want others to think they cannot do it. Make themselves look like they are the ONLY ones who can.

    Rubbish.

Kill it with minimal tools. It's all right here.
Just have to read between the lines..

The edge looks terrible. I can only imagine the fire edge is the burning sensation your face would feel.

Regardless of where it was mined it's not a bad stone for the price. But a Swaty would do a better job for about the same price.

The sellers credibility is another issue. I would not purchase from a seller that practices deception.
