Thanked: 3Buying Cotis
What are some of the most recommended sites for picking up a coticule these days? I'll take a rectangle if I have to, but would prefer a good bout. Is staying under 60-70usd possible?

And absolutely possible to stay under $60-$70. It will just be a little smaller of a stone. Don't let that discourage you, there are people on here that can hone on some pretty itty bitty stones.

Thanked: 7+1 on totally possible
I received two bouts today, both of which cost less than 50 dollars. Size is relative. I always prefer rectangular too but a good stone and the right technique will work too.
If it is a slow coticule I insist on paying for more real estate, but it is not necessary.
Let us know what happens!

Thanked: 3Thanks guys. Been honing for years and they weren't really on my radar, but I picked up a 3in by 1in (ish) bout and love the edges off of it, so I'm looking for a bit more real estate

Thanked: 7I think with your budget, a 150 x 40 would work well. The Superior Shave has 2 left at 71$. That's a pretty good deal. I think you can do better with a bout, but the real estate on the former is consistent across, and you may enjoy the longer laps without having to adjust for the width you're already used to.
I remember my first coti, I had to decide between 150 x 50 or 150 x 40. The 150 x 50 won because I thought to myself "more real estate better rock julio hone razor now" (*caveman voice*). Wish I went for the 40 size now.Last edited by J743; 07-22-2016 at 07:15 PM.

That is one of the benefits to superior shave, you can see the bout before purchase. However, if you email Ardennes with your requests, I have no doubt that they would fulfill them. I mentioned that I was going to use it for finishing razors and the stone seems to be capable, just have to get myself capable with it.

Thanked: 38I bought my 175x40 directly from Ardennes. I ordered a standard, and in the notes section told them it was for maintaining my razors. I asked them to choose an appropriate one. They graciously sent me a nice select Le Grise.
You cannot go wrong with buying from Jared at TSS as well.
