I love the Shapton Pro 1.5k for setting bevels on razors without geometry issues. I have the Chosera but I find the feedback of the Shapton more akin to a natural stone I guess. I'm glad I have them both.

    Has anyone used both?

I have the Naniwa Superstone and Chosera 1k hones. From everything that I have read, I assume that everything that I am about to write will apply to the newer Specialty (former SuperStone) and Professional (former Chosera), but I will point out that I don't have the newer versions of the 1k hones.

All of the SuperStones are soft. They have a soft buttery feedback that I like in all but the 1k. I want a 1k that feels like it is cutting and the SuperStone does not FEEL like it is doing that. For that reason I used to use a Shapton Pro for the hard work and then would switch to the SuperStone to "prep" the blades for running up the rest of the SuperStone series. Now, the SuperStone 1k actually DOES cut bevels just fine, but it did not feel like it. I also did not like how quickly that it loaded up. However, most of that loading could be clear just by wiping the stone with my fingers. It also wore away faster than I wanted it to but that was a consequence of it being soft. In my opinion the SS 1k works just fine but there are better options.

The best better option is the Chosera 1k. It is harder. It is a splash and go hone so no soaking is needed while the SuperStone benefits from a couple of minutes (NO MORE) of soaking. It does not load up with swarf. It seems to be the perfect hardness to release just enough new material that it does not load up nor does it get terribly messy with excessive amounts of slurry. It cuts faster.

In my opinion, so far, the Chosera 1k still seems to be the best available 1k hone.

I have the 1k, the 1.5, and the 2k. I agree with you that the Pro hones feel a little more like a natural hone. That does not make them better or worse but they feel different. Between the Chosera 1k and the Shapton Pro 1k, the Chosera leaves shallower scratches. Of course that is not a problem if you have the 1.5 and the 2 to follow the Pro 1k.
