I've read about people doing this. On my stones, 8k to botan is backwards, but then again these stones give different edges. Best is to try.. like I said in that other thread, try shaving, or like Mike said, try some kind of a hair test. Remember you are in high grits and going back and forth here doesn't hurt your razor very much. You could always tape the spine, just in case.

For me, mid-range to botan works great! Call that 4k if you will, I don't know, because the only synthetics I own are a Nani 600 and 1K
