Thanked: 3795Oops, sorry. I was thinking about the strop and when you mentioned removal I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Before going to much bother with the dark stone, you might want to test it to determine if it is of any use for razors unless you want to use it for tools or something. I say this because it may be a relatively coarse silicone carbide hone.

In the process of scrubbing with steel wool and WD40, the one that I thought was glued in started to give a little and luckily it's not glued in after all. With a few jiggles it came on out. It's an old dual grit stone and the one side is really pretty fine and should make a great stone for knives. Now I just need to track down a surgical black that'll fit and I'll be one happy camper.

Thanked: 168Nice find . A bevell setter and a finisher . Now , you have to score a midle grit stone , like old stock coticule , and you will have, exelent progretion .
