But sometimes they slapped that lune stamp on the black material. Idk if they exhausted the purple or what but it is an annoyance. Purple material is dense and thuddy, ssofgr is pingy and has a strange metallic sheen like a fish does.

    Extra fine stamped la lune

The special stone is just more difficult material to use. It cuts even faster than the purple, I don't feel it has quite as much consistency. It's slightly more porous. Mind you, it's an ultra fine rock regardless, but I wouldn't recommend it over the purple ever.
Those hones are huge...LOL...here's mine, much smaller, have only used water and got a very nice edge, hand held barber hone way, you're suggesting some lather or oil and few laps, under 20 for instance?

These cut strongly so if the edge is there it shouldn't take much. Just stop when it feels there, that's what I do. Try some lather or smith's so it it easy enough to go back if you prefer the water

Lapping that big special stone was horrible.

Yes, very sparkly stone, like fish scales, that is the perfect description, so they're the, Special Stone Only for Razors....

The dimensions are 4.75×2.5×1. It has both the label and the stamp but the stamp is very faint and the label appears to be trying to peel so I'm going to seal both tomorrow!

Also any information about the history of this Stone would be appreciated!!

Interesting, thanks for the link, the saw marks on the end of the stone look exactly like the saw marks on the one I have...mined a long, long time ago.

Have you tried yours out on a blade yet?

Not yet I just got it today. I won't to seal it before I lap and try it so I preserve the already degrading label!
