Default Finally got a pierre la lune!

I found this one on a glitched Ebay listing and I thought it would be fun to share. The listing wouldn't let international buyers bid and I had to dig through eBay to place a bid! The dimensions are 4.75×2.5×1. It has both the label and the stamp but the stamp is very faint and the label appears to be trying to peel so I'm going to seal both tomorrow!

Also any information about the history of this Stone would be appreciated!!

Use honing solution or oil, zero pressure and low lap count coming from your prefinisher. Strop a bit more than usual. These cut aggressively and are extremely fine.

Really, that's interesting, I've only ever used water....going to order some honing solution...what type of oil?

I have used sewing machine but you can do smith's or glycerine and water or even shaving lather like a barber hone. You should notice a very nice boost in smoothness and some added sharpness

The purple one you can almost treat like a natural barber hone, the black one aka the special stone pretty much does sharp and smoothness is really tricky. I greatly prefer purple between the two. All of the french finishers represent amazing value atm given their capabilities with a practiced hand.

That looks like a purple La Lune which is way less aggressive than a grey one, I have both colors. Purple one I have is 4" x 2" and I use it with a dap of shaving cream and H2O. I find that 30 or so laps will improve just about any edge and make it smooth. The grey one gives a very sharp but somewhat harsh edge with 6 yo 8 laps.

Interesting stone, been doing some reading here on the various types, mine has a unmistakable metallic blue sheen to it, and with some lather few laps produce a stellar edge, going to have to get some oil as I'd read that many "come alive" with oil...one thread had them coming in at 30k, under 20 laps, while some excel with just water and a light slurry.

Turns out there is a La Lune Double Face hone as well, never had heard of it, and this was the only place I'd seen one...that one looked like a "brown Escher".
