I agree with Rezdog. It's notsobad, really, from what I can see.
On mine, I picked the most consistent-looking side and that one is all I use.
The things are fragile, esp at the edges. If the seller is selling some new ones in the box, he may not be taking them out and looking. Perhaps now he will.

Thanked: 3795If it were me, I would respond with saying that for just a $10 discount you'd like to get a return authorization for an exchange, not just a return. That way they'd be on the hook for 2 x shipping plus another hone. I would expect them to come up with a better offer for a refund.

Did you pay for a second or damaged stone? if so keep it and repair it. If you paid for a perfect stone then send it back.
The thing probably had some damaged areas and the shipping caused them to break off. He probably figured either you wouldn't care or if you did he's offer you peanuts. teach him you care.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

AGAIN, im with Ron on this. Shipping both ways for a replacement would cost him a lot more than 10 bucks.
He is hoping you wont think about it that way. It's just Sharpening, right?

I 'm with Spendur
You have obvious damage but there may be non visible damage that will not show up till after use.
Send it back and get a new one.If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
