    Question ISO Hone Soaking Containers

I'm searching for leads/pointers to individual soaking containers for my "thirsty" hones (Naniwa 1K and Norton 4K and 8K). The stones are 3" x 11" x 3/4" in size, so (ideally?) I'd like containers on the order of 4" x 12" x 1-2" (that 4" measurement could be either width or height; that is, the stones could either lay flat or on-edge). Plastic w/lid.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Tupperware type container at the grocery store for my Norton.
I don't soak my Naniwas, however.

Yeah, well, if my grocery store had 'em, I'd've bought 'em. I'm looking for an on-line pointer.

PS: My Naniwa 1K is their "traditional" stone, which does require soaking.

I use an Igloo 1/2 half gallon beverage cooler for my thirsty stones. Picked it up at a thrift store.

    Jon,

Honestly soaking them all together in a larger container is probably easier for you and better for the hones.

The larger volume of water (I target 1 Gal) is easier to mix a capful of bleach into and it allows more water to circulate around the hones
It would also be easier to change the water periodically to eliminate the possibility of algae

Anyway that was my experience with the thirsty hones Good Luck

Target or similar around the time college kids are shopping for dorm supplies is a great way to get cheap plastic containers of all sizes.

I use a one gallon Rubbermaid pitcher. It allows me to stand the Norton hone on edge and gives good circulation for the water, with a capfull of bleach per Glen's suggestion to prevent mould.
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

'Dolla' Stores' are a great place to find plastic boxes. And extra long shoe horns for us geezers!
