Great photos! I love how the well this shows the contrast in the stones.

I only have one thuri myself, a 1"x5" "Celebrated Water Razor Hone" (which I've been told is an Escher subsidiary), but I've had pretty mixed feelings about it.

It came plastered into the box with a darker slightly speckled side up but I managed to get it out and noticed the colour shifted midway, so I began to lap the back to get a secondary surface. The two sides definitely perform slightly differently, but it's really difficult to describe just what that difference is. In any case, my experience with this has left me a bit befuddled as to what all the thuringian fuss is about; maybe your description of the green one as harsher is applicable here, but I had always read that even a relatively poor performing thuri was still a pretty darn nice edge. Maybe I'm simply doing something wrong with it, but I consistently find the extraordinarily smooth edges from my coticule preferable.
