He'd run annual sales around the holidays for at least a few years before this fiasco. The shipping was always slow--I know mine took until around March to land and I believe I'd ordered around mid November.

With that said, it is indeed a sad state of affairs.

Thanks for the heads up on the 180 day window. I still had to June, but it really looks like it's not going to show. Filed a claim with paypal yesterday.

Kinda bummed, I was looking forward to having the stone.

An intresting thought is that the quarry, cheap labor, and the market, still exist. Someone could come in, mine some stones, cut and lap them, and sell them only when they were ready for shipping with very little start up capital.

Better yet ship them to a U.S., EU or other partner who would sell and ship without the international shipping delays.

There is a lot more to this then we know. He never decided to go in this direction we can surmise and I would guess he used the money from pre-selling the stones to go through the rest of the process. No money out of pocket type thing. The problem is that it became using the NEXT guys money to ship you YOUR stone and so on. It becomes like a pyramid scheme and then the foundation falters and , well, here we are.

Its sad, its disappointing, but I am not going to throw any hate at the guy.

We dont know what happened. Did he fall ill? or have trouble at home? Arrested for trespassing on the land where he mined the stone? There are any number of reasons he may have stopped responding, and except for "he decided to screw people after years of being upright" not a one of them say he deserves our anger.

I dont agree with the philosophy of "I dont like him, so I wont touch his hones" either.
I have lost a large swath of my customers because I dared to voice my political views. so to me, deciding that "his products suck because I dont like what he said or did"
leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I hope that one day we find out that he fell while collecting stones, hit his head, and was wondering the towns with amnesia, but now his memory has returned and all will be right with the world.
I have so many other people I can hate, so many reasons to hate at this time... this hardly qualifies.

This is where I disagree. I won’t trash the stone. It was a very nice stone. I got great edges from it and I believe it’s still giving great edges to the guy I got it to.

But I won’t say “oh well “ if he was killed, someone was involved with his business and could have made the announcement. He did have partners with the quarry and his new razor project. The guy had an operation and a website, he wasn’t alone. And if he was it’s impossible to believe no one is attending his estate. When trying to drum up money for his other plans he was available, when questioned on deliveries already paid for he disappears. No amount of hardship do I forgive in this instance, it’s business.

He was chasing the new money without delivering. Got in over his head or maybe drugs, gambling or just plain old deceived. Just my thoughts. He didn’t get me but he had made my recommendations have less than their usual effect. I don’t like when that happens plus a thief is the worst sort, you can’t trust them

I will just say that if you're taking money before products are ready to ship, that it seems inevitable that at some point you will have a black swan event that causes problems. This is assuming the best.
