    Default La Veinette

    Hello,

    I finaly got it!

Here my new stone added to collection, a vintage natural combo coticule stone.

Here the original price, 650F (French or Belgian Franc) --> FR = 140,08 Euros, B = 16,11 Euros.

I think it's Belgian Franc (before the euro), given the price at the time. For example, the stone "Special Stone Only for God Razor 12x3cm) cost 4.60 French Francs, i.e. less than 1 euro.

I am sure at 99% that this stone is "La Veinette", according to this study, we can read "Recognizable by a thin yellow line visible in the BBW layer and this in a few mm from the Coticule."

We can see in the photo bellow the thin line at ~1mm from the coticule :

I haven't tested it yet, I don't want to damage the price tag

    Best regards

    Hello,

Can I use clear varnish to protect price tag?

I sealed my JNat with clear fingernail lacquer. A few coats ought to be sufficient.

The inclusions are usually fairly well defined in those. Doesn't mean yours isn't, so don't think I'm bursting your bubble.

    Well congrats to the stone!
They wavy line between the blue and yellow layer indicates that it is not only a La Veinette hone. Most probably it is an old rock coticule. Old rock is the name of the quarry and also of the layer. The old rock layer is äquivalent to La Veinette in other quariies.
    Enjoy your find!

Agreed all the LV I've seen or held do not have that wave between layers.

I'm going to guess it's a nice, hard, fine stone and not the soft speckled garbage I've seen lately trying to be passed off as razor finishers.
