Thats a glued joint!!
A simple loupe will suffice - you do not need a USB but it can't hurt

So if it is a green Thuri hone glued to a blue one, the culprits were likely splitting 2 hones and adhering them together to make 2 combination hones.

FME blue is really hard. Using blue after green?

Good question! Inquiring minds want to know!

It is a interesting box of hones for sure. A number of natural hone pieces that are very rough on one side and some what lapped on the other. Some rather rough cut edges too. Looks like a real rock hound. I would love to know the story.

I would love to know the story also.

My father was a rock hound amoung many other things. He passed many on to me. My wife and I sat down one day and put notes with the stones as he told us. They got shoved onto a shelf in the corner of the basement and not thought of for a few years until the shelves collaped and mixing up a bunch of stuff from about 10 boxes. What label came from what stone????
