It's not actually a Barbering Textbook but its good info from someone who knew his stuff.
You never normally hear references about hard or soft steel in razors in old Barbering books. This guy had experience!
I think it was that same book that talks about razors getting "tired" in that if they are honed on the same hone all the time they may need a change periodically to respond well.
