Looks like the real McCoy to me. Here is a photo of an Escher ink stamp on a blue/green I have. I think the one in the auction is a dark blue but it is hard to tell for sure from photos. It does look genuine to me though and I've had quite a few come and go and some that stayed.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 0thank you I thought so to on another sight there was talk about the lable on the box and the stone look like a copy that escher did not print one loke that on the stone in question but for me i thought no one would go to all the troble to stamp the stone and copy a lable too what year would you guess this stone to be

I'm not an expert, but it has a label and stamp, so it's probably real. I guess both of those could be forged, but is it worth it? If somebody takes that route, I'd expect a greater abundance of such hones.

Hard to give it a year. The only one I have that I know approximately when it was sold is around 1905 because the hardware store stamping on the box indicates that. Your's has the label in German and comes from Europe so who knows. I would think it is old but couldn't say how old.
