Thanked: 9They also have a european warehouse - I visited the site and it detected my country and gave me the prices in GBP - very nice.
They also sell a glass plate, which has rubber feet and looks like substantially-thick safety glass. I might have to give some of this a go

Thanked: 0Maybe it's me, but I can't find anything on their site that allows a purchase less than 5 sheets of each um, which runs $41.50. So for all three "grits" I'm out over $120 bucks?
It states the diamond sheets are only sold individually, but doesn't give that option as of 02 March

Try this supplier.
They sell by the sheet. With or without PSA. I would go without YMMV.

Diamond - Non-PSA Square - Polishing Lapping Film
According to that, they come in packs of 25 sheets each in 6" squares. For $6.25. Can't be right. Must be by the sheet, right? If no, sounds like the deal of the century!
Ah, so that's what happened w/ Thorlabs--I thought they jacked up their prices for single sheets to $40 each!Still, it's annoying you can't buy singles anymore..

The lowest I see is 6.15 for the 1.0 um. Still good, considering you can cut it in half.

Today I received a pack of 1um and 3um diamond films, a pack of 0.3um alu ox films and a glass plate with rubber feet.I had no intention of trying it out but you know how it is, couldn't resist as the shave was less than great last night. I've never so much as touched my only blade on a stone before so was very careful and did a few wet laps on the 1um with as little pressure as I could manage and then hit my newly dressed strop which also gave more draw as a result of the dressing and WOW! It never felt this smooth and it just slid down my cheek with no effort at all. A huge difference. I had the blade set up professionally a few weeks back but my inexpert stropping had done more to dull the edge than to refine it and I needed to attend to it, this film fixed it good and proper. Thanks for all the info!!
