Sorry, couldn't resist (link)
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Okay. So final decision time. I think I'm 75% Shapton 25% Henckels (Naniwa SS).
Which way do I go?
I'm thinking Shapton because they're workhorses and I can use them for a while and lots of people have experience with them so they can help me. Then I can get the Henckel 3k/8k later to dick around with.
The ONLY reason i'm considering the Henckels still is that they have been verified as basically a cheap Naniwa Super Stone, and a member has now spoken to them being of at least good quality.

I was drinking my tea and I spurted some out my nose on that one!
Olivia, that is some good news, indeed. Thanks for trying them out for us! I was beginning to convince myself that the quality would be very disappointing.
How was the speed and response of the different grits?
I'm gonna have to get me a set now!

Thanked: 402Khaos, how long can you live with a dull knife?
I have yet to hone more blades before I can say something precise, Tom.
From the five I did last night, I suspect the hones are very industrious!
Thats exactly what I need, cause I have a load of not so great razors here that I want to sell cheap,
just to get my money back and maybe give a newbie a chance to try without major investments..Last edited by 0livia; 07-13-2009 at 09:32 AM.

Khaos, Olivia, and others
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but just wondering if you guys still consider these hones to be worth the money.
I was thinking of buying a set - the lower for knives, the hight for razor touch ups.
Would appreciate any advice,
Cheers,
RobI love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!
