Thanked: 402Gentle and effective Tojiro 4000
Last weekend someone sold a couple of hones very cheap,
so now I'm the proud proprietor of a super sized Tojiro 4000.
It is a kitchen knife hone.
Olive color, quite smooth and as far as I can see from the cracks its a hot hone.
Baked clay type.
It needs only little water and comes on a naniwa type holder with rubber feet.
Its a blade muncher of the gentle type!
You can see your razor turning to soup in no time.
But its so fine that I'm sure I'll use it for restores of chipped blades a lot.
Its very precise.
If you run into one of those, don't say no.

Hey Olivia, can you post pics? I'm interested...I have a King 4K now, and it's ok but if this is a cheap, better stone I'd love to try it out...

Thanked: 317Is it just me, or does the base on that hone look just like the bases on the naniwa superstones?

Wow, you're right.Even over here, it's about US$70...though, Tojiro is a knife company, primarily (like Henckels), and those stands look an AWEFUL lot like the Naniwa stands...
