Thanked: 95Since you have the Shaptons in 1K, 4K and 8K I would go for the Shapton 16K, IMO it's gives me a very nice edge and you'll have a complete line up of Shaptons for razor honing, (with the exception of the 30K). Glen has posted about Shaptons Preforming best in a pure Shapton honing system, so for me the choice is easy.

All Shapton for Now
Gentleman,
After considering all comments on this subject I purchased the Shapton 16k and it will arrive Monday the 24th. I have currently worked on two of my ebay razors with the 1k, 4k and 8k Shaptons. Everything looks good under my Leica microscope. Nice even bevel and no chips. When I get the Shapi 16 I will finish the process. Perhaps I am blind but I could find no Wiki info on the final hone on the 16k. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your input
Best regards,
Denny

Denny, here is an old post by Lynn, honing tips # 1, that may address that. Just do with the 16k what he says to do with the Escher of Coticule. IMO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
