Thanked: 10200 Frictionite Hone
I would like to hear from members who own and use the 00 Frictionite hone.
I have used one for years and it seems to work faster than most barber hones.
Please share your expierence.
Thanks

I got one about a month ago in a local antique store. It came in a little leather pouch. After lapping i was suprised how fast it was. I bought it more as a curiousity and don't know where it would fit in my set up but imagine it would be a great touch up stone.

Are they all two sided?? I thought mine looked and felt the same on both sides.

Here are pics of the "Little Frictionite" that I have. It is one grit only for sure. Does yours look like this one?

DM, I've got one and used it only a couple of times. Mine definitely got the edge sharper with a few dry laps on the 'rough' and a few on the smooth side. It isn't really rough just says,"use this side first".
Mike, mine is stamped 00 Frictionite and it is 4 3/8 x 2". The darker side is the side it says to use first. The instructions for use are on a label glued onto one side. I suspect if yours has one color slightly darker that is the side you'll want to use first.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Mike the difference is so subtle that if I didn't have the label I would have a hard time telling it. Take a look at it under good light and if it still appears to be the same lap it on both sides and let it dry and take another look. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that it would be the same as it's larger cousin.
EDIT; I am showing my age.... a donut is probably worth more than a dollar nowadays.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I did look with magnification and very good light. I think the only way to tell if i got a piece of metal and rubbed and looked to see result. Now you made me hungry and could use a donut, but watermelon will have to do.
