    Default 00 Frictionite Hone

I would like to hear from members who own and use the 00 Frictionite hone.

I have used one for years and it seems to work faster than most barber hones.

    Please share your expierence.

    Thanks

I got one about a month ago in a local antique store. It came in a little leather pouch. After lapping i was suprised how fast it was. I bought it more as a curiousity and don't know where it would fit in my set up but imagine it would be a great touch up stone.

Here are pics of the "Little Frictionite" that I have. It is one grit only for sure. Does yours look like this one?

DM, I've got one and used it only a couple of times. Mine definitely got the edge sharper with a few dry laps on the 'rough' and a few on the smooth side. It isn't really rough just says,"use this side first".

Mike, mine is stamped 00 Frictionite and it is 4 3/8 x 2". The darker side is the side it says to use first. The instructions for use are on a label glued onto one side. I suspect if yours has one color slightly darker that is the side you'll want to use first.

Mike the difference is so subtle that if I didn't have the label I would have a hard time telling it. Take a look at it under good light and if it still appears to be the same lap it on both sides and let it dry and take another look. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that it would be the same as it's larger cousin.

EDIT; I am showing my age.... a donut is probably worth more than a dollar nowadays.

I did look with magnification and very good light. I think the only way to tell if i got a piece of metal and rubbed and looked to see result. Now you made me hungry and could use a donut, but watermelon will have to do.
