I have checked that out with mine and I would say no they do not. Of course you will have to lap periodically even in the midst of a honing session if you're doing a lot of honing ... just to remove swarf if nothing else. I've gotten to where I pretty much routinely lap synthetic hones before each session anyway. Honing at the kitchen sink makes it a quick and easy routine under the faucet with the water running. I don't do this with naturals. For those it is only when necessary.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
