Razor not adhering to the hone
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this phenomenon. I have a Nakayama Maruichi, among other hones, and as far as I know, this is the only hone that does this. The other day, while, shaving, my razor was pulling and grabbing a bit, so, I had some time, I decided to break out the big gun, and give it a few victory lapps to improve my overall shaving experience. The razor was a Dovo Bismarck, with gold etching on the spine.
The razor would not adhere to the hone well, It kept lifting off the hone.
When I apply more water, it would stop, I would get maybe 3 lapps, then I need to add water. Funny thing is, The razor doesn't do it when the hone is dry making me think that the water is giving it lift, I needed to hold it down quite firmly. I'm going to try a few different razors and see if this is unique to that razor. Maybe there was something on the blade. I don't know..
Anyone else seen this? Or have a solution. This is probably my best hone.We have assumed control !

i think we called tension or something else. i am not sure. razor edge is so flat while you use water it seems like hard to move the blade. You put more pressure or force and blade lifts up. seems like blade sticks to the stone.
You will notice this mostly on chinese 12 after many laps .
water increase tension and you ended up putting more force to move the blade.
hope this helps.

Yes, Yes, That's it. I'm 99% positive, I told O_S earlier in the mail, this is by far, my favorite and most cherished hone. I use it sparingly. It gives the best edge out of all my finishers...I do have a spray bottle that I normally use, but I was in the bathroom, and just poured water from a cup on the surface....That's what it is...I'm glad I posted....You guys are the best...
Thank you....We have assumed control !
