I'm all for "gentlemanly conduct" and the "if you said you want to bid on this or that, I'll stay clear", etc. But apparently this is a result of that kind of thinking.
My opinion is, I think in the end an item should go for what the highest bidder is willing to pay for something. Maybe that makes me ungentlemanly?

I was gonna get it, but family issues pulled me away and I couldn't get back in time.
If you want it, try writing the seller. They never relisted it, so maybe if you offer a couple dollars they would take it

I am watching to see if it gets relisted. If so, I may just buy it.
