Thanked: 74New hones
Got three hones from the antique store yesterday.
Here is the first one. Looks like it has 2 layers, but I don't think the bottom layer would be good for honing. Its hard, as you can tell from the leftover pencil marks. Also, the spots that have been lapped are really shiny. This seems to be the highest grit of the stones.

Thanked: 74Here is the second. It must have had a paper label on it at some point. Seems to be the same all the way through. The darker patch in the middle still needs more lappin'

Thanked: 74The third is a combination stone. The more used side is coarser, with the other being a little finer. Probably similar to a 325/1000
Rough side:
Smooth Side:
Have my work cut out for me:

It will be much easier to tell what they are (or might be) once they are lapped.

Thanked: 74Can I use the Washita stone for honing? Seems to work with the couple of laps that I did on a blade from the restoration bin. Anyone know an approximate grit rating?
Seems fast to me.

The several that I have vary a bit. My estimate is that a Washita can be anywhere from 200 to 600?
