"Faso," german water hone.
I won this "Faso" german water hone, awhile back and i was wondering if anyone recognizes the 'Faso,' name or the label?
With the help and feedback, of a fellow member, i think it is a unused, vintage Thuringian, but any other feedback, would be much appreciated.
Dimensions: 12.5 x 5 x 2 cm.

I would bet good money it is escher of some kind. I remember that one going by and it looked new, congrats! Sorry don't know more.

It sure looks like a Thurigian stone, especially since it's from Germany. It also has the warning against using it with oil, which is typical of eschers and thuringians in general IIRC.

Oof! Nothing on this stone...i am going to have to get rid of it, if i want to keep my sanity. Not knowing its origins, is driving me bloody crazy!

Have you tried any razors on it ? Might be a good one. I would guess Thuringan family too since it is dark and looks like a Muller.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well, it hasnt been used, so i kindof wanted to get some information on it first...but it looks like there is nothing but dead-ends.

You might call Kees' attention to this thread. He used to sell NOS natural German stones on ebay that looked like this, and from what I remember they had a similar label.
What I remember him saying is that they were similar but not identical to vintage Eschers, a little faster and not quite as fine, very good for stainless, and finer at any rate than most coticules. But check this with Kees and have him look at your pictures to see that we're even talking about the same stone.
