Default Bevel Setter, Ark Tri Hone system

I just got this Arkansas Tri Hone system to once and for all, take care of those pesky bevel setting jobs...This bad boy comes with a 120, 180 and 220 grit hones. It comes in it's own case, so the stones sit in an oil bath if you so desire. Very beneficial if your using oil hones...What I like about this was the fact that you have 3 bevel setters all in one spot, and I can just filp over to the next one. As soon as I have a bevel to set, I'll post my results. I can't wait to play with this thing....

    If your wondering, it is as big as it looks, 11 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1/2.

Those grit ratings are quite low, but then again, Arkies are quite slow. I'm curious if this setup will work on razors.

Me too. I don't have any that need a bevel set right now, so I will repost. I excited to try this thing. I also collect knives, Arkansas are great for knives, but that's another forum I guess. I had a DD Satinedge that took over 30 mins to set the bevel. it was a bear....I'm hoping that this might help on those hard jobs....

    Default Lapping

Forget this post. I just went back and found the dimensions. I pull the trigger pretty fast when hunting pheasant and grouse too. Sorry about that...

I'm wondering how much fun this triple hone will be to lap someday.
It looks like a handful. Can you give us dimensions? Thanks

If I'm having a tough time with setting a bevel on a razor I tape the spine and then go to my DMT EF 1200. When I have it where I want it I remove the tape and go to the Naniwa 1k and reset without tape and go on up the grit ladder. The DMT really speeds up the harder jobs. If it is a really damaged blade I might go DMT 600 and then move up. Not that I am 'right'... just what I am doing nowadays.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I bought an Arky tri-hone, when i was about 15...still have it....though it looks quite different from the one posted.
Are those synthetic hones...they dont look natural?

    Many thanks,

    Mac
