Can Someone explain to me the different Swatys
Ok so i bought a swaty (pics will come soon) and it had a more tan almost like a copper look then the ones ive seen, also it had 2 lines franz swaty then marburg, austria, its in really good shape, i know i dont have pics up yet but r there swaty ripoffs, i only ask cause its in pretty good condition, and the difference in color, if anyone can help out with any info on it would be greatly appreciated again i apologize for not having pics yet

Swaty's vary in grit and cutting speed; I think there are a few members who know the general trends based on the actual writing on the hone. The colors vary a bit, and they change color when you lap them. If you can post pictures, someone may be able to give you a good idea of how your particular Swaty will behave.

I had one of those (same writing) and I think it performed as well/almost as well as the more famous Wahring bei Wien ones so. Nice find!

I have several, 3 line, 2 line, The long, the short. They're hard as hell. That's why I bought a D8XX. I hate chips, I finally lapped them out, no easy feat. believe me.
I found if you take them to 1000 grit wet sandpaper. The original color comes back.
I usually keep a long gray and a short brown out. I find no difference, except that each side of the Swaty is slightly different....We have assumed control !

Here is a bit from the instructions that came with a long swaty that I got new in the box.
