    banditpogi,

    1-3-8 for me

When I first got my Naniwa SSs I did use the (1), 3, 5, 8 (12) sequence. Now, for my daily razors, the (1)-3-8-(12) works just fine.

    Good honing !

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

I am also a 1/5/8 kinda guy. I find that jumping from 1k to 5k is perfectly fine. Although these days, I prefer using the Shapton pros all the way through or doing the Naniwa 1k, Shapton 5k, Shapton 12k (maybe followed by a finisher of choice)

When I started out, I bought the 2-5-8-12K Naniwas from SRD.
That actually worked out great, I was a bit worried about the 1K's aggressiveness, and decided to accept a bit more work when setting bevels.
Later I purchased the 1 K as well.
On the rare occasions that I use the SS nowadays, I find the 1-5-8-12K progression works very well.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
