    Default Old Norton Stone

At an antique store last week I picked up an old Norton oilstone which appears to be a combination stone with a dark course side and an orange smooth side. The stone is marked India 1B 6 and appears to be fairly old, but in good condition. I also have a cheap chinese polishing stone which I believe is 12k grit. I have been trying to find some information on the Norton stone, but so far have not been able to figure out what grit either side is.

I was hoping someone would know what grit the Norton stone is. Also, I would like to hear anyone's thoughts on the suitability of the Norton stone plus the chinese polishing stone for honing. I have sort of tapped out my budget for the time being, but I would like to try my hand at honing with equipment I currently have if it is suitable.

Also, what is the best way to bevel the edge of the Norton stone, as the edges are still fairly sharp?

I was starting to get that impression from what information I had found. Would it be reasonable to go from the India stone up to the 12k polishing stone?
