I can only speak for the Shapton 16k, but its a really great finisher and it gives me great edges. I'm very happy with it I must admit!

I'd wait for one of the serious honemeisters to chime in as they'll be able to give you a good comparison of all the stones you mention!

    Good luck!

I have the C12k and have tried to tell the difference between that edge and one off of a 16k and I honestly can't do it...

A progression that works for me is to go from the N8k to the Escher to the 16k, then CrOx, then plain leather. Good Luck

I don't have the 16k glass but I do have the 15k pro and the Naniwa 12k. I would say either of those would be faster and maybe more consistent than the chinese 12 but that might depend. Never hurts to have another arrow in the quiver.

I'm just curious about what you mean when you say you need a higher grit. If you're not getting amazing shaves off a C12k or a vintage Thuringian, something is not right.

I mean that i see many friends around they are using lots of different hones after N 8K so just i want to know their experience with them..Than
i will decide to buy stone .. Maybe it will be shapton 16 k glass stone or shapton pro 15 k or chocera. i dont know exactly now.. btw im totally agree with your words but just i want to try little more extra.. otherwise no need to look higher grit...
Maybe some of our friends experienced in these stones and share their experinces with me.
    Thanks for all replies.
    Regards.

Ah, gotcha. Personally, I have a C12k, coticule, Asagi and vintage Thuringian. I have also used a Naniwa 12k + .5 diamond on hard wool felt (but only on 24 razors while visiting Lynn). I think the razors off the Naniwa 12k + .5 diamond on hard wool felt were the sharpest, but I found them a little harsh/uncomfortable. I prefer razors off my Asagi and Thurry. Can't really tell them apart from my C12k, but the Asagi and Thurry only need about 1/4 the number of passes so I prefer them.

Read this old post here about shaving off of the 8k or not. Just IMO, if you are going to buy a Naniwa get the 12k superstone, not the 10k chosera. There is a huge price difference IIRC and the superstone is a great stone IME.

I did a test with 6 razors from a 7 day set this past week. I started from scratch and honed them all up from 1k=> 4K=> 8K on nortons then used various finishers I had:
Coticule, Thuringinan, shapton pro 15K, Naniwa superstone 12K, Kitta with diluted slurry, Kitta with water only and to be honest to me, they were all very similar in performance to my novice face. I

f I had to chose one, I would also suggest the Naniwa 12K superstone for cost and speed.
