    Default E-bay Stones

I know there's a general distrust for ebay stuff.

With that in mind, might a honemeister have a look at this and tell me why it's suspect?

Secondly, which grit stone is generally thought best for taking out small dingers on a blade?

    Thanks in advance!

Apart from the shipping delay from Poland, they look to be very similar to what I'm seeing on other sites.

Glad to know I'm not the only one whose interest is piqued.

    Thanks, gugi!

I assume then, that if one has removed the dingers, one then goes on to 5K and then 8K, or may one just jump to a pasted strop w/ some .5 Chromium Dioxide?

While I can't speak to your second question, I will say that I bought the 12k from this guy about a month ago, and was very pleased both with the quality of the stone and speed of shipment. I thought it was a great deal, considering the cost.

yeah that's the idea, the most efficient way is to use progression of hones from 1k to 8k. I don't think you can have any success jumping to .5u paste until you've done excellent job all the way through 8k.

I'm pretty sure his Chinese Polishing hone is the same as the one at Woodcraft: Natural Polishing Water Stone - Woodcraft.com

I have no idea what the 5 or 8k hones are. With Naniwas, I go 1 5 8 finisher, but I don't know if that would work with these. These days, I'm suspicious of cheap hones, but my first bevel setter was a King 1k (also from woodcraft) for $20 and it worked very well, so you never know.

My final thought is that hones are not a place to skimp. Bad hones, even with awesome razors and an awesome honer, will likely have bad edges. Not to mention good hones really aren't that expensive, especially when you consider how much use you'll get out of them. We are talking less than $.01 for every razor you hone.
