    Default coticule edge

take a look at the pictures of a bevel set on dmt 1200. Then the coticule used with slurry to remove the dmt1200 scratch marks. Then slurry diluted and finaly finished on water only. The very last picture was honed on a differant coticule slightly slower cutter. the second to last picture is the same razorhoned on a faster cutting coticule. the second picture down, i performed 60 laps with slurry, i used very fast back and forth strokes, which takes seconds. The next one down was another 60 back and forth stroke. After that it was just nice steady rolling x strokes and gradualy diluted the slurry down to water . then finished with 50 light laps on clean water.

The razor is a da which has a slight smile.

Thanks for the pictures, that is an awesome edge! I stopped using the DMT a little while ago because I hate the edges it gave the razor. By that I mean I didn't like the scratches on the bevel, even if it was fast to set a bevel. Since then I use a Naniwa 1K and I like it a lot more, it's smooth and fast, fast like a DMT. The edge won't have that scratch pattern either, so it's easier to polish out.

I can see a shaving video coming now? heh

I really like the photos. Enough resolution that you can see the progression but not so much that it looks like the craters of the moon. Very clear and little if any reflection. Great job and thanks for posting those.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

My dmt1200 is a well broken in. A thew half strokes with a little pressure replaces the scratches. Bart uses the half strokes it works, i can do 120 laps (half strokes in may be,well as fast two minutes. then i swithch to dilucot and take my time .

I have 325/600 duo sharp diamond plate. I will try again coming of the 600dmt, see how the coticule can take care of the pattern.

To be fair they shave very well. Any one that has will say the same. For £10 you carn't go wrong. I use them for experimenting with on differant hone combinations and paste etc.

I think it is a 200x microscope. i don't very often use it, they are very `fidly. I just use 30k loop . Its enough to check any edge out with 50 watt cealing lighht

Nice easy to read pics Is that a hard felt pad under the blade? I'm still in the air on the use of it for razors.
