That's really cool! Congratulations on your persistence.
I will buy one of the hones whenever you have one available. I do not need to wait for a test result. Send me a PM when you do, I will Paypal you the money.

BTW, Jimmy and Sham will be very good testers.

I'm in the same boat with Randy. When you have some to sell, please let me know and I'll send a payment as well. That is, if I have a job again by then.

Hopefully, Sham will still have this at the time of the MidMO meetup. That way Randy and I, and maybe one other personcan try it out there.

Guys be careful here. This thread is starting to look like an advertisement. Any talk of sales or want to buy or similar belong in the proper forums or just PM the OP.

    Ok Gents,

Two hones cut, lapped and ready to send for evaluation...
I'll PM the testers with cost to ship and then I'll send them off.
I've decided not to include slurry stones, as after some more testing of my own I've actually found them not to work optimally. The stone is actually quite hard and when a piece of itself is rubbed on it with the veins going in the same direction it actually seems to attack itself and create fine grooves where the white veins are... which isn't very cool at all. So it appears to be a material that will either work well with just water, or to create a slurry what actually works perfectly is to use a small diamond plate or even a very fine carborundum barber hone... So if these are ever released, they will be hone only, and the above mentioned guidelines will be the 'how to use' info on the packaging
So I'm Very interested now to hear what our testers conclude.
Figured you'd all like to see the test hones prepared before I sent them off, we do all like to see images of stuff don't we...

(I'll address the selling of the stones etc, once I hear from Jimmy and Sham, just makes sense to not jump the gun here, and when we hear back and if it's all good, then I'll start a thread in the vendors section or wherever and let you guys know how I'd like to sell them and what the process will be...)

    Cheers,
    - Mike

    Many thanks Mike, PM sent.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I notice that you have the stones cut with that pretty stripe effect going the long ways. What about a stone with the grain going perpendicular to the stroke path?

Yeah I specifically cut with the grain as it seemed the logical thing to do. I did give it a bit of thought and just felt that since the stone is made up from these differing veins of material however similar/dissimilar they may be, that the razors edge deserves the benefit of both parts simultaneously rather than a stroke hitting full-edge into one vein and then the other... know what I mean? Just seems to make sense to have the stroke fall inline with the grain rather that cutting across it. I did also test both ways and the stroke with the grain just feels smoother. Also, other natural stones I've seen where there is this type of figuring, the stone has been cut with the grain, so again it just felt right to do so.

Do you guys agree or do you think there is merit in cutting the other way?

I prefer it the way you cut it so far, for me this will be a working stone not a mantelpiece.
