    Ok guys, lets have some fun. A couple of days ago I was trolling Ebay and found this.....

    EARLY CARPENTER SHARPENING STONE WITH ORIGINAL BOX - eBay (item 360250638784 end time Apr-29-10 20:55:35 PDT)

    So..being a bit bored at the time I decided to buy it! Now, just what kind of hone do you think I will get in the mail? I will post an update to this thread , with pics, when it arrives.

    My guess is a carborundum loaded with oil. Fingers crossed it's something more exciting!

    Looks too big for a Thuringian. Carborundum's my guess. I didn't want to take all the good guesses!

    That is interesting Randy and at that price it is like playing the lottery. Cheap enough to take a chance. In this case you can't go wrong. If it isn't good for razors it will no doubt be good for knives and tools.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Could be an old Norton too. The India stones are good for kitchen knives.

    Yup, that's what I was thinking. Since I stopped drinking years ago this is now my version fun!
