Thanked: 2259Natural finisher
I've got 2K, 5K, 8K and 12K Naniwa SuperStones... Im happy and I've been doing pretty well with them.
But, I'm getting the itch for some kind of natural stone for a final finisher.
I don't want an all around natural with different slurries for a multi purpose stone... Maybe someday, but now I'm just looking for a cost effective finisher to improve an edge after the Naniwa 12K... If there is such an animal.
Suggestions???

Tough question.
Are there any better finisher then 12k answer is yes.
question is do you need it?
Depends.
do you have HAD? THEN GO HEAD.
HOW Much are you willing to spend?
You can get great edge by using pastes after 12k . question comes up Are you looking for edge or natural finisher?
This is naturals will give to you better edge. But they are pricey
Escher, japanese stones,
There is more rare ones out there but i don't think you need them.hope this helps

Suggestion... Well the 12K is a tough act to follow.
I have recently been astounded by a home made Tandy
leather strop that has a dusting of Cerium Oxide (0.25micron)
on it. The Tandy leather is stiff as cardboard i.e. not
very flexible, the lack of flex seems to be a bonus in this case.
The leather could also be glued to a chunk of flooring or what
ever......
I have a serious envy for a BIG loom strop like someone here has... LSAD

I follow my 12k with an escher stone,it improves the 12k by a lot. That being said the naniwa ss 12k is a great finisher is that's what you have. Try to see how you like your 12k before spending more and more money.

Just make sure the seller accepts returns or if what you buy isn't as fine as your Naniwa you've bought a paperweight
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 2209Better than 12K? and a natural? It sounds like your looking for something, either texture or sharpness or both. Maybe you want to decide that first?
