Default Just admit you've done it

We all love looking at hones, the way they smell, the feedback on fingertips and razors, and the sound you get when you run a razor over them.

But these are just 4 of the 5 senses.

Admit it - How many of you have had a taste? (And which hones?)

I've not only never tasted one but regrettably I am sad when I read that they have an aroma. My senses are blunted by a steady stream of pipe tobacco for decades.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Cant say I have ever tasted one. I do love the earthy smell of my coticule. Now..I can say I have tasted some soap for some stupid reason.

I have not licked mine yet, but I sniff them on a regular basis, not to mention the fondling.

Hey, can you really know the state of your slurry if you don't take the odd little taste?

Yes I've done it. (Natural stones only. No desire to taste a Norton.)

Nuhh ! I like flinty tasting white wine but won't lick rocks
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Yeah sure. I do the tongue-test on flattened spots on stones when out in the field to get an idea of grit, and I've also bitten the corners of my thuringians, slowly dragging my teeth lightly into the surface, again as a means to get a grit reference in my mind/teeth... so reading that back, yeah what the heck is wrong with me...
