How is it working as far as putting the finishing touch on the blade? I recently bought one as well, lapped it and it feels rougher than my 1K. Perhaps it will smooth out once I start using it. It is a similar box to yours and states "Razor Hone".
Does the roughness feel of the stone give indication of the honing capability? Meaning, with experience, can one simply run their finger across the stone and tell what grade/grit it is close to?

    No.

The effectiveness of barber hones is dependent upon the combination of the actual size of the grit, density of the grit relative to the binder, and the binder itself. Some combinations just plain work better than others.

Thanks Doorsch and Utopian. Yes, I saw that test by Modine. After feeling how coarse the stone was after laping, I began to question if I had a different stone or what. Good explanation Utopian. I guess I knew most of what you said but couldn't have put it into such a eloquent concise explanation as you did. Thanks again guys.
