aNagura stone
i want to get a 12000 grit japanese stone. I know you need a aNagura stone to get a slurry going. What are aNagura stone ?

DMT is a brand name of Diamond hones.http://www.dmtsharp.com/
Basically, a metal plate with a diamond surface used for honing. You don't need a slurry stone to hone, especially on the higher grit hones. I rarely use them, and get great results when honing. The exception would be Coticules, they are slurry hones. Unless the manufacturer specifically say's to use one, I wouldn't. But that's me...Last edited by zib; 07-21-2010 at 12:08 AM.

I have a norton 4000/8000 I was looking at the 12000 M5 Series Ceramic (Cream) Water Stone - Shapton in lieu of a coticule.

Thanked: 121There seem to be a number of these threads lately. We've all been there, at least I have, so I'm not unsympathetic. I think the bottom line is that there is no map, only some general directions, and the sense of wonder and adventure that will guide your travels.
